Lemon

Ah, the fresh scent of lemon! I love that it gives a clean, fresh scent when it's used.

The natural occurring chemical that gives off this wonderful citrus smell is limonene.

History of Lemon

According to some research it's been found that the lemon is a cultivated hybrid deriving from wild species such as the citron and mandarin. The citron seems to have been the first citrus fruit known in the Mediterranean world. {source}

Lavender

Lavender is one of my favorite calming essential oils to use. I love the soft, sweet scent of it. I also love how versatile it is.

History of Lavender

Lavender comes from the Latin word lavare, meaning "to wash". The Romans and Ancient Greeks used lavender blossoms to scent the water bath.

During Roman times, the flowers were sold for 100 denarii per pound. They were commonly used in Roman baths to scent the water, lavender was thought to restore the skin. When the Roman Empire conquered southern Britain, the Romans introduced lavender.
